Aroma Magic Mint Cleanser Review

Aroma Magic Mint Cleanser is one of the few products that I have bought after reading reviews ( Yes, I do read reviews, not all the time though)  and It Worked!  I bought it for the first time in December 2011 when I was looking for a cleanser which would be effective but won't strip my skin of moisture.

I have a very oily skin but those products which strip the skin of all the oil, they are useless, trust me! You would be better off with something which cleans nicely but doesn't make your oil glands go into the over-producing the oil phase.

Natural Bath and Body Ylang Ylang Whipped Cream Review

I do have a science gene in me( my parents got that right!), you know, always ready for experiments. In my case, I buy *anything* on a whim.'Buy now, think later' kind of situation. Natural Bath and Body is a product of the same company which manufactures products for Fabindia. I bought the Ylang Ylang whipped cream from Natural Bath & Body because it was whipped( can be used on oily skin), Ylang Ylang (liked the smell) and it is winter time!

Company Claims:
Not much. All they claim is that it is suitable for oily skin as it is whipped and hence, it is really light, has Vit E and moisturizes skin.


Directions:
 Wash your face.Pat dry. Take the cream and massage in circular motion for 2-3 mins for the cream to get fully absorbed.Use it on your face or hands.
 

My Experience:
The cream is light and gets absorbed really quickly. It has a colour which is neither white nor cream, its more like a muddy-off white shade. There is just one problem, it feels like they took a truck load of ylang ylang and condensed it into 50 ml and made the cream. The smell is so strong that when I apply the cream, the room starts smelling of Ylang Ylang. Too much for my liking and it is a bit pricey for a room freshener.

The Good:

• Whipped cream so it is really light.
• Keeps my skin moisturized for long time.
• Works better than lotion and doesn't leave the skin oily.
• Strong packaging.
  

The Bad:

•  The packaging is not very strong or attractive.
• Isopropyl palmitate? carbomer? Hain?
• Price might be an issue for some.
• Strong smell.
• I have only seen it being sold online.
  

I'd Suggest:


This is good enough for mild winters and works a lot better than the lotions.However, if you have very dry winters in your area, this cream is not for you.The smell is strong; so buy it if you like Ylang Ylang A lotttttt!!

My Rating: 6.7/10 ( -0.3for availability and -3 for smell  and yes, I remember I said I liked Ylang Ylang!)

Fabindia Lemongrass Facial Spray Review

I was planning to buy this just because I wanted the small spray bottle and I like the smell of lemon. I got it as a free gift from an online shopping site(any guesses??).

What it claims:

Made with lemongrass essential oil, this facial spray has a cooling effect that instantly rejuvenates and refreshes you.

Ingredients:

Purified Water, Polysorbate 20, Glycerine, Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Lemongrass Essential Oil.

My Experience:

The liquid is pale yellow in colour and the white layer you see in the picture is the froth formed due to spraying.I spend a lot of time staring at screen and into books and I don’t always feel like getting up and washing my face. I have oily skin which gets greasy even in winters, so this is the perfect solution. However, if you have dry skin, keep away from it in winter as it might make your skin feel dry (but you can use it in summers). I used to keep it 12cms away from my face and spray it but then it would get into my eyes and  it stings!! So, the new strategy is that I spray it from a close distance so, it doesn't get into my eyes.

Price: Rs 150 for 50ml

Pros:

• Spray bottle which is small and handy. It will fit snugly into the handbag.
• The fragrance makes you feel really fresh.
• Obviates the need for washing your face constantly with water.
• Contains Allantoin( Allantoin is a valuable cell-proliferating healing agent which stimulates healthy tissue formation and has a pronounced keratolytic and skin softening action cleasing up the areas where applied.)

Cons:

• Stings when it enters your eyes.
• If you've dry skin, you cannot use this in winter!

Suggestion:
If you don't like using this as a facial spray and you got a similar 'free gift', you can finish it off by using it as foot spray!

Baba Ramdev-Patanjali’s Kanti Neem Soap

I went out to shop because I had nothing else to do and bought this soap because it was cheap. I buy anything if I get that Omg! It is so cheap feeling. The SA said it will make my face clear in no time. I went home and took the soap out of its package. Suddenly, it felt as if air was full of Neem and only Neem. You know, the kind of smell when you burn a bunch of Neem leaves (try it if you want, it supposedly drives the mosquitoes). I kept it in the soap dish in the washroom and the smell was strong enough to overpower the air-freshener as well. Later, I read the ingredients and realized it was because of the Neem oil in the soap.

What the product claims:

Useful in rejuvenating, nourishing & glorifying the skin. Useful in removing dryness and roughness of skin.

Dark green coloured soap

       

What it does:

The first time I used it, oil-drips-from-my-skin-all-the-time kind of skin became so very dry that I had to use a lotion. But even this did not help so I smothered my face with cream and I cursed myself for buying without thinking. I was living with a mother of all the zits at that time. However, the next morning, I noticed that the size of that pimple shrunk and it had started drying on the surface. I finally figured out a way to use the soap, I use it only on the zit. About the soap’s claim? I don’t think it matches any of the claims but serves an entirely different purpose.

You can also use it if you have some skin ailment; just make sure you apply oil before you take a bath with this soap even if you have oily skin.

Why you'll like it:

• It is only 12, that’s like one Kit Kat( or two perks and two eclairs)!
• Dries the zit like magic.
• If you don’t like it, you can throw it away without any guilt.
• You can use it instead of air-freshener if you don’t mind the smell of neem.

Why you won't like it:

• It makes the skin so very very very dry.
• You end up smelling like a neem tree :P

BIOTIQUE CUCUMBER PORE TIGHTENING FRESHNER REVIEW

Biotique Cucumber Pore Tightening Freshner tones your skin and reduces the pore-size as well.It gives great result with oily skin, my skin looked fresh and it remained oil free for a few hours, which is a lot more than all the other toners that I have tried. I have an excessively oily skin so it didn't make my skin dry but if you have a normal skin or have an oily T-zone, I will suggest using it in less quantities.

It contains  Cucumber juice(obviously) , Coriander (Dhania), Mint(pudina), Daruhaldi  and manjuphal.
When I first applied it, it didn't sting but felt cool because of mint and I left it like that to see how efficiently it could control oil. I was impressed.

Cost:Rs 149 for 120 ml

I have been using it for more than a month, twice a day and I have still used less that 1/4th of the quantity.
If you have acne-prone skin, this is one product which you should definitely try.The bottle doesn't have a spray but you can always pour its content into an old spray bottle.I take the content out on cotton and apply it but you can spray it as well.

The freshner is light green in colour.
