I have sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin which cannot stand a
lot of scrubbing. I don’t have much of blackhead problem but whiteheads are
very much a part and parcel of my life. I have tried everything to get rid of
them but nothing really works. If I use a whitehead remover stick, my nose
turns blue but the whiteheads stay where they are. The point of the story is I
am always looking for something which will work. When I saw this gel scrub, I
wanted to try it because it was gel based, had rose in it and the whole claim
of detoxification.
What does it claim:
An exfoliating gel with soothing rose petal and geranium
oil. The rose petals have a cooling effect while the germanium oil detoxifies.
How to use:
Apply a scoop of scrub to wet skin and gently massage to get
rid of the rough patches.
What it does:
I was initially skeptical about the scrub because of crushed
walnut granules. While buying it, I hadn’t noticed the ingredients and I was
only expecting dried rose petals (I have no idea why I was expecting rose
petals alone to be capable of exfoliation). The scrub can be used as facial and
body scrub. I thought I will try it once on my face and if I breakout then I
can finish this off as a body scrub. I opened the tub and I fell in love with
the smell. The gel had a dominating smell of roses but it was not the kind
which makes you sneeze or gives you a headache neither does it linger on for
very long. It just makes you feel fresh.
The gel had small granules of walnut which are the same size
as salt granules or maybe even a bit smaller. The pale brown coloured clumps
are actually the rose petals and the dark brown coloured granules are crushed
walnut granules.
The walnut granules are fine so they exfoliate but are not
harsh on the skin. I still massage gently because my skin cannot handle a lot
of stress. The gel base provides a medium consistency which is neither too
thick nor too runny. After scrubbing, my skin feels soft but it is not very effective
in removing whiteheads. It does make my elbow feel a lot better.
As for the claim of detoxification, I have seen no change.
Pros:
- The floral fragrance which is not heady.
- The scrub didn’t make my skin breakout.
- Availability.
- Great for rough elbows and knees.
Cons:
- It didn’t remove my whiteheads.
- The lid is not very strong though it does come with another white stopper beneath the cap.
Will I buy it again?
I will rather try
something else.
