Darling Diva Polish in Unbridled Avarice

People at my work place think I am some nail genius who comes with unique ideas all the time. In
reality, I have just been layering polishes and nothing else. Unbridled Avarice (Hence forth will
be called UA)is a multi-coloured-holographic-glitter but it is major-ly purple(My favourite shade!).

Orly Gumdrop Swatch and Review

A friend of mine was coming down from US and all I wanted was some polishes! It's not like that brands like Orly and CG are not available in India but the price they usually ask for is well...ridiculous!

I had been obsessing about some  mint creme all summer and I chose Orly Gumdrop when she

Revlon Nail Enamel in 430 Get Reddy

While typing this, I realised 430 and Get reddy rhymes!

I have been lazing around a lot lately, hence, no posts. I got this Revlon as a part of trio ( I got 3 nail enamels at the price of two).On a very unrelated note, our electricity bill is 3400 INR this month without using a/c and nobody has an idea how we managed so much! Maybe the electricity board doesn't want us to shop? Quite possible. This is the consequence of not living with parents, if only they could move with me where ever I
 went!

Viviana Nail Lacquer in Snow White - Review and Swatches

For past some days, white polish has been stuck in my mind. Nothing makes your stamping pop-out like black and white. I already had a black and was looking for a white creme. I have been buying a lot of cremes lately and they are the only thing that make me happy. Anyway, after a lot of swatch hunting and research, I bought a white polish except I shouldn't have! I got a Viviana Nail Lacquer in Snow White which was a white creme.

Artificial light.no flash.

I already own a Viviana nail lacquer in Outrageous Sky  which I love because it is budget friendly as well as DBP and  Toluene free.

Diana of London Nail Varnish in Soft Brown Swatch and Review

I wanted to try Diana of London polishes for quite some time but on my past few shopping trips, I would end up picking something random( maybe I should start making a list of polishes I want, that will sort things out). Anyway, I read their description on a shopping site and in the description it said, " Enriched with Vit E and calcium" and I just had to buy it!Also, they were on a  22% discount which helps, right?

Diana of London, has three lines of nail varnishes, City Glamour ( I have got 3 of these), Dazzling  Silver and Gold Dust.

Maybelline Colorama Laranja Citrico Swatch & Review

Maybelline Colorama Laranja Citrico is basically spring on a budget. I have been lusting after a lot of polishes which are either not available in India or their prices are exorbitant(in India, at least). I have pledged ( for as long as it may last) to stay on a budget and I am not *that* crazy, really!

Anyway, I wanted an orange nail polish after looking at some Zoya(s) {I seriously need to unfollow that page on twitter, if I want to be happy and not broke!}. Well, I noticed Colorama Laranja Citrico (Italian?) while shopping for a shampoo and I was sold, to be precise, the bottle was.

Bootie Babe Nail Polish in Electric Lemon - Review & Swatch

When I got the Bootie Babe package, I wanted to try Electric Lemon first due to my affinity for the word electric. Now, this is the colour you should be wearing on your nails if you want your guy to notice your nails. I think the blindest of the boyfriends/husbands will react to this shade! This is the thing you should be wearing to prove all those "Oh! but I don't notice such things, you know that darling"'s wrong. There are a lot of people who have qualms about some shades not looking good on them, I am not one of them.A lipstick might wash you out but nail polishes just do two things: They either look good on you or They look absolutely fabulous on you;)

Bootie Babe Cosmetics : Company, What I Got, International Shipping and More

Bootie Babe cosmetics is a company founded by Mark O'Hara  who worked for Macromedia  after graduating from college and then he moved on to opening his own digital design house. Then, in 1995, he formed a 15-piece funk dance band called SuperBooty, hence, the name of the cosmetic company.

The sticker!

What drew my attention to these bottles was that they were.....well, bootie-shaped, obviously!

Revlon Nail Enamel Moonlight Swatch and Review

Revlon Moonlight is a perfect example of how misleading the images shown at shopping sites can be! I bought Moonlight expecting it to be a light blue creme or at least a light blue with pearl finish. What it turned out to be is this:

Natural light.

Revlon Nail Enamel 410 Slipper Swatch and Review

Revlon launched Slipper with a bunch of other glitters in 2010. The first time, I noticed it in was 2011, not bad for somebody living in India, I say! Slipper is sparse glitter with hexagonal silver glitter and red and white tiny glitter particles. This is supposed to be used as a top coat and making it opaque on its own is simply out of question.

Viviana Nail Lacquer Shade Outrageous Sky Swatch & Review

This is my first bottle of Viviana Nail lacquer in the shade Outrageous sky 003.Viviana is an Indian brand and  I bought this shade because of its name. Initially, I 'd thought the colour would be more of a turquoise blue but it turned out to be a bit darker than that. Now, this is the kind of shade you can wear in the evening if you're going to a party or if you're like me and wear shades according to your mood then you can wear it any time!

I think it will act as a great base for nail art.

Claim:
Viviana Nail Lacquer provides a long lasting extra gloss finish. The special formula, ensures a perfect adherence along with constant viscosity and an incredible smoothness. It is Toluene and D.B.P. free and is water resistant.

No base coat or top coat. Artificial Light. No Flash.

Application:
The first coat didn't turn out to be even. There were some area where there was a lot of paint and some which were still transparent. When I tried running the brush over the excess paint areas, it was able to even it out a bit unlike the other nail paints which clump and come off. The second coat evened everything out and coverage was full. The brush is easy to work with! I think the consistency is a bit thicker because of the water resistant and longer lasting formula. It is basically  a  creme.

Finish:
Glossy even without top coat.

Price: 129 INR for 8ml
Urbantouch -105 INR for 8 ml

Lasted For:Tip wear after 3 days(without base or top coat )

Layered with Faces Nail Enamel Shade Shanghai Shimmer.

Faces Nail Enamel- Shanghai Shimmer

This is the first shade that I bought from Faces Canada. It is a pretty shimmer in silver. I picked up the bottle and the cap came off. I don't know if you're supposed to use it that way (just like L'oreal) or the cap was loose. You'll need at least 4-5 coats for opacity if you're just using the shimmer. If you're using it on top of a base colour then only one coat is enough.
There are two variations- 12ml bottle and 7ml bottle. The shades in 12ml and 7ml bottle are completely different. Shanghai Shimmer comes in 7ml bottle.
It is easy to work with and the shimmer is evenly distributed.

Brush: The brush gives an even and smooth application.

Price: 99 INR for 7ml
          199 INR for 12ml

The shimmer created different kind of shine from different angles.
Base Color: Maybelline Colorama Black

Lasting Power: It depends on your nails how long a polish will last and also on how much work you do. O my nails, tip wear started in a day( no base or top coat)  and with base colour it lasted for 2 days with no chipping.( I do house hold jobs and the longest any nail enamel has lasted is 4 days.)

What you see below is 4 coats of Shanghai Shimmer (alone) and two coats of black colorama with two coats of shimmer with no base and top coat.

Cons:
  • Hard to remove it(when wearing it alone) but it left no residue behind.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10

OPI Pamplona Purple Nail Lacquer Dupe

I am currently on a "I will leave no dupe un-found" spree and it has not been easy at all. Today, it is OPI Pamplona Purple's turn. I have been able to find only one shade which comes close to the pretty purple shade by OPI Fall 2009 collection.

Here is a swatch.

You can buy  OPI  here for 520 INR.

This is a similar looking shade from Deborah 7days long shade number 831. This shade is a bit lighter than Pamplona Purple.

Buy  Deborah 7Days Long here for 195 INR.

Tell me if you know of a similar and cheaper shade!

Disclaimer: I don't any of the above images.

Chanel Graphite Nail Lacquer Look-Alikes!

Chanel Le Vernis 529 Graphite is from Fall 2011 collection. It is a metallic silver shade and is priced at $25.

You can buy the Chanel 529 Graphite here  for $ 33.99.

The inspiration for this shade is obviously graphite. I had been searching for the dupes of this particular shade for quite some time but was not successful. Yesterday, I came across two shades which bear a striking resemblance to Graphite.I still have not been able to find something which looks exactly like Graphite.

The first similar shade is from Cetuem Number 126

Price: 425 INR for 14 ml  or £9 for 14ml
Living in India? You can buy it  at Urban Touch  here

Or visit the official Cetuem Site here.

The other similar shade is Layla Smalto Glitter- Argento. However, I feel the glitter particles in this one are a tad bit bigger.

Price: 330 INR at Urbantouch

Visit Layla's Official site here.

Disclaimer:I don't own any of the images.

L'oreal Resist & Shine Titanium Review

L’OrĂ©al Paris Resist and Shine Titanium is a range of beautiful nail enamels combining intense colour and shine with an incredible long hold formula…. including Titanium for the extra resistance! Colour looks vibrant and the result is chip free.

L'oreal's Resist and Shine line of nail enamels has been inspired by

Doutzen Kroes

She is a part of L'oreal dream team of spokespeople.

I bought the L'oreal Resist and Shine in the shade Sparkling Ochre simply because I had nothing in that particular shade. In the bottle, sparkling ochre looks like a rich shimmery brown . When you apply it, the red undertones in the shade become visible. It is a shade which is ideal for the wedding season. It will add to the beauty of your ethnic wear. This is one shade which I think will look fine with almost all the shades so you don' have to change your nail colour as often.

Artificail Light and No flash

You're supposed to take the top cap off and hold this black head while applying the nail enamel. I think it is a lot more convenient this way because L'Oreal Resist and Shine has kind of bigger caps.
The brush is flattened unlike the other nail enamels. I did not see any difference in application though!

Consistency: It is kind of thicker than the other nail paints that I have used (maybe that ensures the long wear claim) So, you have to be quick while applying it otherwise clumps will be formed.

Lasting Power: L'oreal claims it will last for 7days but on my nails it lasts somewhere around 4 days.( In my case, that is a pretty long time)

A very practical choice of nail colour as it is pretty and it makes your nails stronger because of the titanium in it!

Price: 400 INR for 8ml or $ 8.

 Will I buy it again?

I don't think so!

Rating: 6.5/10

Essie Nail Lacquer

Until recently, this brand was not available in India but now it is. It is definitely on the higher side, price wise but they do give you good quality product. The shade below is a sapphire blue shade with glossy finish but no shimmer. It has a staying power of about 4 days without chipping but then if it will chip or not depends on what kind of work you do.

This is how is looks in daylight with no flash. It's perfect for dressing up your nails on a night-out but then, you don't need a reason to wear a nail paint that you like, right?

Price: $ 8( approx.) for 14ml(13.5 actually)
In India, Rs. 450 to 500
( I have not yet seen any counters of Essie, but you can buy it online from 365gorgeous.in )

Stays On For: At least 4-5 days!
