Dove Original Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Review

Let me start by telling you, I am not a big fan of Dove. The green version of the soap doesn’t suit me, the white one is fine but I prefer Pears to Dove any day. I have used the Dove shampoo only once and that too because I ran out of mine and had to borrow it from a friend. I bought this because I went to Chennai thinking ‘Oh, it is winter I will carry my deo which is only 1/4th filled.’ Nobody told me that there is nothing like winter in Chennai and it would be hot and humid outside and I will have to walk a lot.   I am not a big fan of walking no matter where it is or how pleasant it is outside. I avoid burning calories in every way possible. I mean, who knows, there might be a drought, so it is better to conserve energy,

What does it claim:
The beautiful thing about this deo is the 24hr protection. But Dove is the only deodorant with ¼ moisturizing cream: the beauty ingredient proven to improve the look and feel of your underarm skin. It’s great for taking care of your skin after shaving, leaving underarms soft and smooth.

Ingredients:

The ingredients did not fit in one frame.

My Experience:
I have heard a lot of people complain about how they don’t like so and so anti perspirant as it left a layer on their clothes. You are supposed to use deodorants and anti-perspirants on your skin and not on your clothes. You can get away with using deo on your clothes but the whole point of anti-perspirant is that it will control sweat. When you spray an anti-perspirant, it will initially form a white layer on your skin which will later disappear. This white layer (usually formed by aluminum compound) acts as a barrier against sweat. So, when you spray it on top of your clothes, it doesn’t get absorbed, hence, the marks.

Like I mentioned earlier, I had to walk a lot in the sun and it was humid as well but Dove turned out to be very effective. I smelled fresh even after being out in the sun for 6-7 hours. It does last long so the claim of 24 hour is justified. The smell is just like that of the soap and it is mild. It lingers on but it won’t overwhelm your senses. The packaging is good and the top of the bottle is a bit angular which makes the spraying very convenient. While reading the ingredients, I noticed that it is manufactured in Australia and not in India.

I used this deo after getting my underarms waxed and it felt like my underarms were on fire. I don’t know if the situation is same if you shave (I don’t, ever)  but I avoid using this for 3-4 days after waxing.

Price: Rs. 160 for 169 ml(100 gm)

Pros:
  • Controls perspiration very effectively.
  • Affordable.
  • Mild smell which lasts.
  • Convenient packaging with an angular spray nozzle.

Cons:
  • Cannot use it for some days after getting underarms waxed.

Will I buy it again?
I have never been loyal to any deo or perfume.
